ERI@SAM TUNG UK VILLAGE IN TSEUN WAN

What I would like to introduce is a traditional Hakka building called Sam Tung Uk in Tseun Wan. It was built by the Chan in 1786 and restored as a public museum in 1987.

There are many different types in Hakka architecture. The most popular types are the Round, the Square, and the Five-Phoenix. Sam Tung Uk you can see that it is in the Square shape. It is also the most common shape for the Hakka civilian.

I am also a Hakka person, and I was lived in a traditional Hakka house when I was a little child (You can see the photo above). It was my groundparents' home. Of course, it is not as big as Sam Tung Uk. It is a great experience to live in a Hakka house as it is totally different with the buildings in HK. This house was pull down and restructured for a long time. But I will always remember the pictures in my memory. =]
